Improvements to the Truck:
I have all synthetic fluid in the hubs and diffs. I have always changed the oil and filter only using Shell rotella oil. I grease the truck myself so that no fittings are missed.
I took all the headliner and trim off and had it covered with matching tan liner from the GM Cadillac book. I then had 1/2" foam glued to the back of the liner. Before I reinstalled the headliner I glued Reflectix insulation to the metal roof. Reflectix is an aluminum lined bubble wrap insulation product. There is no more heat or cold coming through the large area of the roof.
I had the high capacity A/C installed when I bought the truck. This is the heavy duty condenser, electric fan and filter dryer kit. The air now works like it should. I installed the 1997 rear flow through vents and the front air scoop. This really helps air flow when using the heat or a/c and keeps the fogging to a minimum. Costs around $800.00.
The sound insulation consists of Fiberglas quilted lead used for marine diesels. I covered the inside of the dog house and the floor area under the aux heater A/C unit. I also shoved a couple of sheets over the trans and bell housing. The truck is quieter than a 98. I also wrapped the crossover pipes with header tape coming out of the exhaust manifolds. This keeps heat down a little right under the truck.
I mounted an aluminum plate on the ceiling in the front center where I attached the Cobra CB. There is a 6" antenna mounted on the front center of the roof. The antenna is short enough so that I can still get in my garage.
The truck has the factory Warn winch.
